About Me
Molly Tebay, LMHC
I am a licensed mental health therapist with a degree in Clinical Psychology from City University of Seattle. I have worked for several years in a community mental health setting to support folks struggling with a variety of mental health issues and diagnoses, such as trauma, depression, and anxiety , as well as life stressors including relationship conflict, job changes, self-doubt, self-esteem, grief, questions of identity, and feelings of worthlessness. Much of my experience has been in supporting people healing from childhood trauma, long-standing or short-term depression, and chronic struggles with self-esteem.
My approach to therapy is one I describe as having two core routes to health and healing. One - seeking to identify practical ways to make positive changes in daily life which may include coping skills for trauma symptoms, steps to walk through and out of a depressive episode, or new ways of thinking to interrupt our old patterns. Two - providing space and time for emotions to be felt in a safe, supportive environment; allowing a chance for people to just be and for feelings to exist without causing additional suffering.
Many of the individuals I have worked with had never seen a therapist before and were brand new to this process, and (more than) a little nervous. On the other end, I have worked with many people who have tried therapy before but found it to be lacking, not the right fit, or not quite what they were looking for. Part of my main focus at the start of therapy is to build our working relationship where we come to a clear understanding of what your needs are, which ways my work fits with your needs, and we take the time to build a sense of trust and comfort in an otherwise (often) uncomfortable situation. Allowing ourselves to feel vulnerable can be hard to do yet is also central to healing through therapy, which is why I take the time you need.
